From the beginning Spain has always had its ups and downs just like how any other country is developed. With its Roman Empire take over Spain was controlled by the people of Rome making it far from being its own country. When the Muslims came from Northern Africa, they made a huge impact on the development of the architecture and art that Spain is well known for. With out this influence there wouldn't be the history to see that explains the significance of Spain.
In later years throughout Spain there was the marriage of King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella that made the mark of uniting the Christian religion throughout portions of Spain. Their main goal was to have Christianity be the control of the country and which gave them the title of Catholic Monarchs (Griggs, 1998). During this time is when the most famous explorer, Christopher Columbus, made his travel to the New World from Spain and Spain was then turned into a Roman Catholic based area and this created controversy between the Jews and Muslims to convert or flee the country.
Jumping into later years in 1931, Spain finally becomes a republic state of country. But in turn this led them to fight into the civil war. The outcome with General Francisco Franco leading out as the war's victor, he became the country's dictator until his death in 1975. Then this leads to Juan Carlos de Borbon to be the crowned King and with his reign turned Spain into a constitutional monarchy
("Around The World", 2014).
An event that affected Spain heavily was the train explosion in 2004 that led to 191 people dead and approximately 1,460 people wounded. With over 10 bombs found in bags throughout the trains, one exploded which led to the rest making there explosion and impact on the collision and disaster of the trains. Islamic militants with possible ties to Al Qaeda were designated later as the prime suspects (Library, 2014).
Finally in the country of Spain today, there is hope for a new modernized world from the new King of Spain, King Felipe VI. He was flanked by his family and before Spain's Parliament, Felipe VI was formally proclaimed the new King of Spain Thursday, following the abdication of his father, Juan Carlos (Smith-Spark, 2014). Below is the video containing the coronation of King Felipe VI.
